Local public relations and advertising firm G&T Communications, Inc. was recently named in seven national awards for its advertising and communication work with electric cooperatives. The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association and the Council of Rural Electric Communicators recognized the winners during a May 13 luncheon as part of their Spotlight on Excellence awards program. A second contest sponsored by the Cooperative Communicators Association (CCA) recently recognized G&T’s work, as well.
Maggie Tilley, APR, CCC, president of G&T, said her team was excited. “We took home top honors for Best Advertising Program in the group of largest energy cooperatives of 80,000 consumers and up for the third year in a row. We received the top honor for Best Individual Ad for the second year in a row. This year, two annual reports we developed for larger cooperatives were also recognized,” she said.
G&T was recognized for three projects created for GreyStone Power in Douglasville, Ga. Four projects for Flint Energies in Warner Robins, Ga., received awards. In addition to the annual report, communication pieces developed to help consumers understand the co-op’s capital credits program were named by both Spotlight on Excellence and CCA in multiple categories.
G&T Communications, now in its 15th year, has previously won state and national awards for websites, newsletters, annual reports and advertising. CMH Lab Receives Accreditation…
Charles A. Cannon, Jr. Memorial Hospital Laboratory has been awarded accreditation by the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based on the results of a recent onsite inspection.
The laboratory's director, Steven J. Bredehoeft, MD, MPH, was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the excellence of the services being provided. Cannon Memorial Hospital's laboratory is one of more than 7,000 CAP-accredited laboratories worldwide. The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, begun in the early 1960s, is recognized by the federal government as being equal to or more stringent than the government's own inspection program.
During the CAP accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory's records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, as well as the laboratory's equipment, facilities, safety program and record, in addition to the overall management of the laboratory. This stringent inspection program is designed to specifically ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients. For more info on CAP, click to www.cap.org.
