With their adoption of the 2008-09 budget, the Boone Town Council adopted a tiered conservation rate structure for water and an across-the-board increase for sewer. Water and sewer availability fees have also increased. Charges for those who live outside the city limits are double the rates shown below.
Water and sewer bills mailed August 1 will reflect the new rates.
According to the town’s press release, “The new rate structure for water rewards customers who conserve.”

Residential minimum 0 to 1,000 gallons – $14 each for water and sewer
Residential minimum 1,001 to 2,000 gallons – $15 each for water and sewer
Formerly, the residential minimum was 0 to 2,000 gallons and the charge was $14 each for water and sewer.
Commercial minimum 0 to 2,000 gallons – All meter sizes increase by $2
Water beyond the 2,000 gallons included in the minimum fee:
2,001 to 4,999 gallons – $5.15 per 1,000 gallons
5,000 to 9,999 gallons – $5.40 per 1,000 gallons
10,000 to 14,999 gallons – $5.65 per 1,000 gallons
15,000 to 19,999 gallons – $5.90 per 1,000 gallons
More than 20,000 gallons – $6.15 per 1,000 gallons
Sewer beyond the 2,000 gallons included in the minimum fee: $4.50 per 1,000 gallons
Formerly, the flat charge for water use beyond 2,000 gallons was $4.15 per 1,000 gallons, and the flat charge for sewer use beyond 2,000 gallons was $4.25 per 1,000 gallons.
Water availability fees – $3.75 per gallon (formerly $2.50)
Sewer availability fees – $4.50 per gallon (formerly $3.00)
Meter connection/disconnect/reconnect – $20 each (formerly $10)
NSF/Returned check fee – $25 (previously $20)
