Grammy Award-Winning Riders in the Sky Returns to Tweetsie August 2 and 3

Story by Andrew StewartEverybody’s favorite cowboy band returns to Tweetsie on Saturday and Sunday, August 2 and 3. Riders In The Sky will perform two shows daily, at 12:00 and 3:00 p.m.

Tweetsie Railroad will feature the annual appearance of Grammy Award-winning Riders In The Sky next Saturday and Sunday, August 2 and 3. The cowboy band of comedians will showcase their wide acoustic repertoire in two shows each day at 12:00 and 3:00 p.m.

Riders In The Sky will perform songs like “Woody’s Roundup,” which they recorded for Pixar’s Toy Story 2, from their album Woody’s Roundup featuring Riders In The Sky. The album earned the group the Grammy Award for Best Musical Album for Children in 2001. National recognition struck again in 2003 with another Grammy for their album Walt Disney Records Monsters Inc. – Scream Factory Favorites.

Since 1977, Riders In The Sky has harkened back to country and western’s legendary singing cowboys, such as Gene Autry, and exposed crowds of young people to the music for the first time. They will play traditional Western favorites from Autry, Roy Rogers and Sons of the Pioneers, Too Slim and other songs steeped in rich American tradition.

The cowpokes have had a close relationship with Pixar’s unique brand of computer-animated films. Rider Joey Miskulin produced the music for 2004’s Boundin that received an Oscar nomination in the Short Film (Animated) Category. The short played before The Incredibles, one of Pixar’s biggest hits, in its theatrical run.

In 2002, Riders In The Sky released an original album inspired by Tweetsie, Ridin’ the Tweetsie Railroad.

Riders In The Sky has logged more than 3 million miles on the way to more than 5,000 shows.

The Riders In The Sky concert is included in Tweetsie Railroad’s regular admission prices of $30 for adults, $22 for children age 3 through 12 and free for children age 2 and under. Seating for the concert is on a first-come, first-seated basis.
The park has many other activities beyond the award-winning warblers and is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
