Award-winning Romanian guitarist Silviu Ciulei will perform an invitation-only concert at the home of Ralph and Debra Grosswald on Friday, August 8. To receive an invitation, email Ralph@grosswald.com or call 828-268-0080.On Friday, August 8, an exciting and gifted guitarist named Silviu Octavian Ciulei will perform a private concert at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Ralph and Debra Grosswald. Many people have attended the Grosswalds’ house concerts and have remarked on the rare and glorious experience of hearing this level of performer in such an intimate setting.

The Grosswalds are hosting the event to help support Ciulei’s continuing education as a classical and flamenco guitarist. The first time Ralph Grosswald heard Ciulei play, he committed to help him in his career. Ciulei comes from Romania, and even though his family is of extremely modest means, Ciulei has developed into an incredible artist. His performances are riveting, and his deeply sensitive interpretations make his concerts something attendees long remember.

Ciulei’s awards include first prize in the National Music Olympics in 2000 and first prize and gold medal wins in the George Georgescu International Competition in 2001, 2002 and 2003. He also won first prize in the Beethoven Club Competition and additional prizes in the Texas Guitar Competition, Appalachian Guitarfest, Mississippi Concerto Competition, Schadt Concerto Competition and American String Teachers Association Competition. Ciulei has performed with the Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra, at the Guitar Foundation of America Festival and at the Eastfield College Guitar Festival.

After the concert, attendees will enjoy refreshments, meet Ciulei and consider offering financial assistance to help him continue his career. Any contribution is welcome, and everyone will be given an envelope so s/he can decide privately how much support to give and return any donation by mail.

The Grosswalds’ French Country home on 65 acres has been featured on home tours, has been a site for weddings and charity events, and has hosted a number of well-remembered concerts.

To receive an invitation to the event, email Ralph@grosswald.com or call 828-268-0080.
