N.C. Green Business Fund Grant Workshop August 12

The Appalachian State University Energy Center will host a grant workshop focusing on the North Carolina Green Business Fund (NCGBF) on Tuesday, August 12, at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center on campus.

The workshop begins with a grant writing session at 9:00 a.m. and includes a session at 1:00 p.m. on grants offered by the N.C. Green Business Fund. The workshop concludes at 4:00 p.m.

The event is free; however, seating is limited to 40 participants so registration is required. Registration information is available on the Energy Center’s Web site at www.energy.appstate.edu. Lunch will be available for purchase at the Broyhill Inn.

The N.C. General Assembly formed the N.C. Green Business Fund in 2007 to offer competitive grants to help small businesses develop promising green and alternative energy technologies. The first round of awards announced in June provided up to $100,000 each to 13 small businesses across the state and included awards to companies in biofuels, electric vehicles, solar power and materials technology.

The N.C. Board of Science and Technology, a division of the state Department of Commerce, administers the fund.
