Bill Brown Open Studio Show August 23
It has been two years since sculptor Bill Brown has held his Annual Open Studio Show, but for art lovers there is good news. On Saturday, August 23, from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. Brown will host a Postmeridian Sculpture Show, featuring his new works in contemporary sculpture, lighting and paintings. Hors d’oeuvres and wine will be served.
In a day and time when simplicity seems far reaching, Brown bases his principles on artistic fundamentals. He creates because it is what is in him, the gift of creating work that feeds the human mind and spirit. As Aristotle stated, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act but a habit.” In the pursuit of excellence the journey is never ending yet continually transforming. It is Brown’s hope to create art that stirs ideas and evokes deep feelings in those who view his art.
Brown’s work has been in numerous exhibits with his most recent solo exhibition—The Art of Transformation—at the Hickory Museum of Art, and he also participated in an inaugural celebration of fine art sculpture on the Purple People Bridge in Cincinnati, Ohio. From September 5 to 26, Brown will join a special exhibit with works by his father, the late Bill Brown, Sr., at the Caldwell Arts Council in Lenoir entitled Shared Creations.
Those who know Brown best know that he sends his regards “In the Mystery.” Einstein has been quoted saying, “The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science.” The public is welcome to stroll through the sculpture gardens and gallery to view his new works during the Postmeridian Sculpture Show at Brown’s Anvil Arts Studio, located a half mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway on Highway 221 in Linville Falls.
