High Country Praise Festival Returns to Holmes Center August 31

Christian rock band Big Daddy Weave is just one of several artists who will appear at the High Country Praise Festival at the Holmes Center on Sunday, August 31. Youth and college-age men and women will converge on ASU’s Holmes Center on Sunday, August 31, as Son’s Light Ministries hosts the 7th annual High Country Praise Festival. The event, which will take place between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m., will feature live music from several top contemporary Christian acts including Big Daddy Weave, Rush of Fools, Afshin Ziafat and 7 Miles, as well as a speech from ASU Head Football Coach Jerry Moore.

Also providing entertainment will be 2007 Starts in His Crown Talent Search winners Bruce Robertson & Elishah.

As in previous years, the weekend’s activities will begin with the 5K SonRun that will take place at the Greenway Trail at the Watauga County Recreation Complex at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30. The fee is $10, or $15 for entry and a t-shirt. Registration will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. on the morning of the race. Participants must pre-register by Monday, August 18, to receive a t-shirt. Following the SonRun, Son’s Light Ministries will host the 4th annual Stars In His Crown Christian Talent Search at the Living Water Christian Fellowship in Boone beginning at 1:00 p.m. Winners of the talent search will earn on a performance slot at the 2009 High Country Praise Festival. The search will feature performances by the top four finalists. Admission to the talent search is free for spectators.
