The Friends of the Library will sponsor the annual End of Summer Book Sale in August at the Watauga County Library, and donations are currently being solicited.
Cookbooks, children’s books, fiction and novels of all genres are accepted, as are books on tape, books on CD, movies and music CDs.
No magazines or encyclopedias will be accepted, said John Blake, Watauga County librarian.
Those wishing to make a donation may bring books to the Watauga County Library’s front desk in circulation, and receipts for items for tax donation purposes are available upon request.
The annual End of Summer Friends of the Library Book Sale proceeds ultimately benefit the library.
“I and my supervisors give [the Friends] a list of things we’d like to do in the next year,” Blake said. “A lot of programs at the library [including] magicians and people coming from the museum with snakes are all made possible by the Friends’ money.”
The book sale will take place in the Watauga County Library’s meeting room on Thursday, August 27, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, August 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Saturday, August 29, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
“You don’t have to be a member of Friends of the Library to take part in the book sale, although we do encourage joining,” Blake said. “Membership is as little as $5 a year.”
Adult paperbacks will cost about 50 cents, hardback books will be $1 and the sale will also include a selection of items for children. Attendees can also bid on special items during the book sale, such as autographed books.
